Frustrated with missing the magic connector road to highway 68 yesterday, I set out to find what we missed today after logging some desk hours. Turns out the road exists, and is gated without any private property signs, however the guy I spoke to for a few minutes made it clear others weren't welcome on it. I have a hard time distinguishing between oil service roads and true private landowner roads, lots of times the landowners just want to think the roads are only for them. Anyway, we'll leave this one for now.
Rode out to highway 40, lots of gravel headwind climbing, plus a detour along a logging road for a while for some extra uphill. Cruised back nearly 3x as fast as the way out, then did some mountain bike single track on the side - felt nice to be riding it on a mountain bike to change the game up a little (on the '96 Stumpjumper). Faster, but in some ways less input needed than a 'cross bike that needs to be finessed along to avoid pinch flats or just losing traction.
3.5 hours all in, then met up with Craig, Gerry and Steve for beers and dinner, as they go visit Tori in a week or so. They promised to buy her a beer!
