Loaner Fun

Through a nice taste test this weekend, I've learned that BMW builds pure joy (or however that slogan in their ads goes) into twin turbo V8's that handle like they're on rails - the 550i is beautiful.

Science Center

Here's a hands on exhibit where you ride a stationary bike that blows a fan. If you pedal hard enough, the fan pushes the ball up this chamber. In the vein of "its only a game Focker" from Meet the Parents - I so crushed the 7 year olds who were trying it.

ps. that Body Worlds exhibit is super cool.

Ibis Tranny Carbon Travel Bike

Not many things feel better than a brand new, precisely adjusted rear derailleur.  Thing of beauty!

Winter is here

But that's ok, because winter and have a long history together. Biked for two and a half hours, then worked out at home. Love it.

Trials

Crank up the resolution, open it full screen, sit back, enjoy!  So awesome.

Toronto Running

I haven't run much, ever really. Somehow now I've run 4 days in a row in Toronto, including a jog... err... total throw down session tonight with some co-workers to blow off steam. I'm sore, but lungs are surprisingly fine. Running in driving wind and rain in the dark and hammering each other after a late night/early morning on work, then a full day conference... just feels so right, so alive. So does biking, I just couldn't pack the wheels as easy as the sneakers this time.

Toronto drummers

I love percussion. These guys made my day. So fun to listen too. Corner of Yonge and Dundas. Batman was near by, as well as an accordian player and some rasta drummer guys.

Canada Sports Hall of Fame Induction Dinner

It's fun to see athletes rewarded for having accomplished great things in their careers.  Hearing this handfull speak, and the crowd of others that jockeyed for mic time, was a fun way to spend the evening. Inductees here.

Kyle Shewfelt's Calgarian speech for the opening of the hall of fame here was great.  Nice to see a guy make his mark in a sport from a city that's focus is steretyped as other Canadian sports.  Wish I could scan the magazine they put at the tables, it's actually very nicely done.

Lawrence Hill

Listened to Lawrence Hill, an author who wrote "The Book of Negroes" today at lunch. Like many creative minds, he was inspiring to listen to. I could listen to him for hours, but alas, work was calling...

He humorously points out that African History month in Canada is the coldest and shortest month of the year, February, when half his black friends vacation in the Carribean or south US if they have the means.

He reminded us that wine is for drinking with friends, and that water is for washing your feet. And to do your best to live well, and love well.

Left over Halloween candy

Look out when the office starts at 5:30am and extra candy comes in. Excess is an acquired skill.

STP

Friday night I missed getting in any exercise, but by fluke ended up dining a table away from the Stone Temple Pilots at Vintage. Good times with a few co-workers and friends.

Sort of a coincidence, as Saturday I saw STP at the Corral with Devin. Good times all round... although between that, work and a little fitness, I'm super tired.  It feels great though with the clocks changing this weekend.

Una

Started by a corporate function at Teatro, a beautiful old building with a great restaurant space. Societe General/FirstEnergy event. Turns out the artist painting on scene was represented by my gallery owner friend. French woman, artist, gallery owner and investment banker go to Una pizza and wine bar. Share life philosophy. Share happiness and good times. Life is great.
