Somewhere along the last decade, the broader intentions of the economy must be functioning. Last night 7 of us plus significant others gathered at Speed's house for a birthday, post house-reno-warming, a pre-stag party planning session, and my birthday coincidentally is just around the corner. We've all known each other since jr. high, or earlier, so call it 20 years. Everyone is past starter homes and onto the second. Everyone save two are married, although kids aren't there yet. The driveway was full of DINK equipment, actually nothing outside of BMW, Mercedes or Audi even showed up, I guess that's pretty official that the circle of kids is now a circle of yuppies. The surprising part of all of this is that we goofed off pretty hard for a handful of years, if not more. Yet somewhere along the way, that whole university and downtown job seriousness kicked in.
Yuppiness has it's connotations, but as the world goes, isn't the worst social stereotype to fall into. On that note, since everyone has fast cars now, here's the best fast car song ever, even with a different level of social address (not the best quality sound, but at least the original video):
